Be Under Arms : ” Evil Tales Of The Northern Country” CD & Digital 2017 Nu Sound Studio, Usoundworks Studio, Empire Studios. Russian Modern Death Metal band. This is not your typical Death Metal music we are used to know and hear since 1991! Of course the basics are still here with a male growling voice along the way, but it has more adding a second female singer. Anna is also growling on the first songs but then moves to more melodic voice giving a taint of life to the tunes. Added many different music styles such as Folk, Doom, Grunge… they have many influences they mix in their brutal music that somehow makes this band unique and can be loved by many. The “Groove” feel is then more spilled in the main sound. They even have a punky style at some point.

A soft intro more into the pop style with the sound of the wind and fire playing accoustic guitar reminding Pink Floyd…growing to an indian style giving you the imagination of being in the woods. The second track send you directly into down tuned guitars and distortion reminding somehow Sepultura ‘roots’ with a mix of explosive female vocals like Decadence and else.

It kicks your ass with 12 tracks although the last one gets back to kinda a link to close the album with a smoother song. It is a band that has lots of 90’s influences , you can already see all the ones they have on their site but I also found many influences from diverse music styles  such as Soundgarden, doomy riffs close to the original Black Sabbath…Gring blasts… sometimes reminding the two vocals from Reckless Tide, Korn vibe, Immolation, Arch Enemy (for the voice mainly)…well they explore lots of paths staying brutal and guttural all the way. They have a funny video on their website :

If you like it gore with fun, this is for you! Check ’em out it will kick you down to your bed ahah 95/100.
