Figure-of-Six: ” Welcome to The Freak Show” CD 26th May 2017 Bleeding Nose Records. Â Italian Modern Metal band. Just the band’s name reveals a search of identity and the cover of that album brings you into times where doctors were more than just psychologist , the concept of this album is well worked to get into your mind. An intro reminding the WASP album to turn into a crazy way sending you into the nightmare of your life. Started in early 2005 the band has made it’s own path and gained quite a lot of recognition along the way. Many years later a line up change and evolution of music , gives that very special album.
Figure of Six is not just a band, it really gives 100% to make what can be one of the best masterpiece done for a group of people who have lots to express. You have to dig the whole concept introducing you to a book played in music. Each songs are different and could let you think it is not well conceived, but in fact from the cover to the title tracks listing everything is settle to help you follow the story. You may be addicted and end up in schizophrenia institute… Imagine a book of Jekyll and Hyde you are getting into your own mind searching for answers and discover you are another person you think you are. You can read the whole story on their website, it’s very interesting to get into the writer ‘s inspiration and what he wants to express.
By creating this story with every songs being a chapter of a book , the band is representing the real human life. Calling life a Freak Show. When reading all the lyrics and story you capture how deep the essence of expressing yourself to describe what seems so easy to explain, can be done differently in a artistic way. People who love reading will get it further than just the listener.
This is where music has it’s place to denounce and also show the truth in your face, Â it ain’t lovely it’s life and somehow arts come through music. A painting is created while you are listening the album. Several musicians participated in this project probably helping making it so powerful and special. Musically it has many ways of expression, from Distorted voice to down tuned guitars and melodic voices, classical piano… When you see how long an album survive, this one needs a lot of time to support and love. Using powerful videos it’s a complete artwork . My favorite song is “Clown” while the video is a bit disturbing but shows reality. Have a listen and get absorbed :
Musically it has many influences from the nineties and few seventies riffs pop sometimes like the last song “But Deliver Us From Evil” having a Led Zep touch to end this massacra that will shake your brain more than any bands before. A bit of digital samples bits giving a slight Industrial touch most are from Nu Metal to Death Metal to Heavy Metal… a mix of explosive music people worship those days. From Five Finger Death Punch, Korn, Messugah, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Dillinger Escape Plan, Evanescence…the list goes on but what is sure you will get into Figure Six’s world! A Masterpiece of art 100/100.
