Matt Chanway : ‘self titled’ instrumental shred album self released in December 2016 . Canada Heavy/Thrash/Death Metal guitarist. He’s playing in a band called Assimilation , he probably got too many riffs composed giving him the wish to make a solo album. having a Diploma in Guitar performance from the University of West London gave him the ability to get his own shred album.

Matt isn’t the typical shredder we know, pretty hard to get him in this style cos his album composed of six pretty long songs, is nothing compared to his favorite guitarists ‘Jeff Loomis’ or even ‘Georges Lynch’… Technical scales and inverted chords, the songs are written like a whole band creating a song except there are no vocals! That pretty much takes him apart, the heavy sounds and the parts from the songs are like its missing a singer! As a guitarist I love to hear the techs and what the guitarist has to say but here it’s completely pertubating, sometimes it sounds like a Death (shuck Shuldiner ) song, sometimes reminding the excellent album from Pestilence (Testimony of the Ancients) sometimes the Heavy and Thrashy songs from Marty Friedman (Dragon’s kiss) … I’m sure you will find many influences while listening to this masterpiece, get an insight with one of his track :

Certainly to be loved by many he will play live this album, as playing with his other band giving him a lot of hard work and technical abilities. A pleasure for the guitar lovers!

No doubt it’s a new shedder to climb the new generation 99/100.
