Nocion : “Into the Darkness” CD & Digital 17th December 2017 Malévolence Records.  Puerto Rico Metal band. This is a great band that mixes many styles in one. The heavy down tuned guitars, kick ass double drums , melodies in the vocals and groovy bass gives the band a nice and enjoyable vibe that will get everyone addicted.
Marilyn Jimenez is leading the melodies that flows the songs pretty well having sometimes little harsh vocals but most of the time she just captures your soul, it makes you play the six songs over and over again with hard times to stop listening to it. Her ability to change her tunes is amazing, sometimes she reminds me Chastity from Outlett, they even have one song in the same vein with different vocal lines. Sometimes she has close tunes from Gwen Stefani from No Doubt, she has taints sometimes from singers like Alice In Chains and many that will pop to your mind while listening.
So they are Metal with a touch of Rock and all the music that landed in the nineties. There is a strong influence into Thrash Metal that will be appreciated by many. They even have some Death Metal riffs for short moments, it’s like they have crossed the boundaries of music styles by integrating many and made a brilliant EP.

The excellent point is only one guitar Cesar Romero is doing the changes followed by the vocals and the bass player Dave Martinez is just pounding heavy riffs. The drums by  Alfredo Hernandez are just done the right way so the songs unite those musicians into a brilliant receipt. It feels good to hear such a great Ep and I wish there was a complete album as they seem to know the job.
Produced, recorded, mixed & mastered by Alexis Perez @ Highway Studios – Arecibo, Puerto Rico that gives that perfect sound so closed to the big rockstars , it really sets them into the high places and deserve lots of recognition.
Influences are ranging from Machine Head , Skinlab, Pissing Razors, Mortuary, Holy Moses, Morbid Angel, Sick of it All, DRI, Crowbar... many bits that may pop into your mind while listening but the originality from Nocion is the melody , the riffs, suddenly breaking tempo… it just gets into your blood and you are swallowed by those enchanting great tunes.
From Rock to Heavy to Thrash To Hardcore… they just made the perfect receipt to give Metal a breath to spread new comers and show you can still create and surprise the music world.
