Tankard : “Hymns For The Drunk ” CD 12th January 2018 AFM Records. German Thrash Metal band.  I don’t remember when I discovered this band but the album “the morning after”,  a friend who bought that great album with an awesome artwork on Lp got me crazy! Then they were everywhere on magazines and videos.  They have literally kicked the scene with their speed Thrash and hymn to the mighty Beer. Unlike bands like Slayer who sung about satan for the first four albums of their career. Tankard always sung about beer and it kind of became there trademark.

This is one of the german Thrash band that delivers the great music and still here after those years amongst Holy Moses, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator propulsed by the legendary label Noise Records. They have kept the roots since the beginning and having awesome cover album designs. Never been serious and having fun they gave us the best band Thrash Metal has always wanted. The whole package : music, fun ,cover albums, crazy lyrics..  set them apart from all bands on the planet. Slight line up issue like every bands have but the structure didn’t break and they never felt into the pop rock stuff most bands went to in the late 90’s. Always moshing you until you drop. Saw them live in Wacken in 2001 with only one guitarist and Gerre made a belly fight with another contestant on stage or asking his belly to sing…it’s just the way they are and it’s cool. Not many bands have that kind of fun except band like Alestorm who also mix the fun while playing music.

Here is a compilation “best of” with fifteen songs for your own pleasure. The list has “The morning after”, “Empty tankard”, “The beauty and the best” … every songs from every albums the band has released. A little teaser of the guys talking about their 35 years of Thrashing the world :

Whatever is for the Die Hard fans or the new kids you got to have this in your collection! ‘We need another fukin beeeeeer’ ..meanwhile have a drink and listen to this cool album and get Thrashed 100/100.
