Darken: “Welcome To The Light” CD and Digital 29th September 2023 Self Released. French Heavy / Power Metal band.

Starting in 1987, they made few gigs and disbanded in 1991. Line-up issues and many reasons, but no album was released. After a long hiatus, the band is finally back in 2023 stronger than before with a powerful album, videos, and many spread across the net via interviews. 

Experienced and talented musicians, it sounds like the band has plenty of albums but this is their first one! It’s pretty amazing, these days bands can have that sound and professionalism when they have done other things than their band. You can read the interview in The Metal Mag.

If Europe has about ten bands with the same name; the music style helps get each in a music style avoiding mistaking each other. Beautiful cover album; if the name can call it the dark side, it is not. The music has a mix of today’s heaviness and the eighties riffs. Like many bands, some songs have that edge with Thrash Metal but stick to the Heavy side. 

Intros with the movie exert talking parts, reminding those early days, the atmosphere setting up the mood and will make you think you’ve known Darken for decades.
