Dokken : “The Elektra Albums 1983 – 1987 ” CD & LP 27th January 2023 BMG. USA Hard Rock band.

I must say I came into this band later in the eighties, this band has somehow made an impact mostly in the states and in Japan. They surely became more famous with MTV videos and their song in the movie soundtrack. At least I love their album Back For the Attack for me regroups all their first creations in a most powerful one.

Don’t get me wrong I like the first albums, they are just more Rock than the last one that crossed the line towards Heavy Metal vibes, thanks to Georges Lynch‘s shredding style that summoned up that powers the melodies and heavy tunes. Of course when you get into the previous album after liking the oldest one you don’t have that same feeling when you discover a band from their first release. I suppose seeing the popularity of the band, the states have more love than Europe has.

In the nineties, the band separated ways in half which led to each doing other things and bands. Due to the fan base being willing to see the band reform; it happened. Sadly to me, they lost the soul Dokken was spilling around the globe. Of course, this is my own perception of what I feel about this band. George hasn’t lost his style nor even his great playing, Don had on his side, suffer from health issues.  Fans are then also cut in half, the ones who are happy to see them back and those disappointed.

In the end, it is always a matter of life, we grow older as the member of the band we love. Some bands still got the guts and passion to keep the flame alive and some have lost it. So this is the time to get yourself a favor and get this nice box set with their best efforts.
