Dustin Behm : “The Beyond” CD & Digital 20th November 2017 RockShots Records. USA Death Metal Virtuoso guitarist. I must say I listened this album 100 times, this is out of the ordinary. Imagine an album but no singer and only the guitar is playing the whole like a normal solo album except it’s Death Metal! It can reminds also some Thrash or Heavy Metal parts sometimes but the heavy guitars and the double drums kicking set it into the extreme style. Dustin is actually in an extreme Metal band Increate that can explain the feel of this solo album.
The cover album shows the aliens invading the earth and the title tracks names are around those theme; a brilliant artwork that reflects the feel of the music. Some songs may remind bands like Death , Pestilence…basically he learnt at the Musicians Instute that helped him gaining that extreme easy playing that sounds so smooth. It’s like honey in your ears such is flows like magic. I’m always amazed to hear such piece of work. He will blow you away!
He’s the kind of guy exploring every possibilities with his instrument with eight strings and a guitar that looks like coming out of space. The melodic vibe that runs into your blood is mind shaking. Whatever you play or not the guitar, he will gets into you. It’s always a pleasure to discover such artist who sounds like coming from another planet with those imagination to create those amazing songs. Some may recognize Steve Vai passages due to effects but honestly it’s hard to capture really who might have inspired the guy. Just have a listen to make up your mind:
The keyboards here play a lot to send this amazing music helping you to fly away from reality, that’s why I find this cover the best to express the music that it holds. I always wonder what drives that kind of musician and how they can remember all those parts they are creating. They are magician for the souls and help you enjoy a different approach of the solo guitarist we are used to. This is just brilliant ! Thirteen tracks to hypnotize you and get you addicted by his own world, I’m speechless to hear such a masterpiece with a talented musician 100/100.
