Marco Garau’s Magic Opera: “Battle of Ice” CD January 27th, 2023 Self Released. Italian Heavy Metal band.
When a band is good and has lots of fans, the best way is to make another one to gather more fans. This is what members of Derdian realized. The idea came from Marco the keyboardist, who probably wanted to expand the music with more elements to separate from the main compositions.
One album was released in 2021 during the pandemic and this second album is ready for the new year! We can say they have lots of ideas and are big composers. Following the first album, the story is also written by Marco , ‘amtork Saga‘ is so a kind of imaginary tale that could be books. The cover artwork is astonishing with lots of details and very powerful.
A very good tale you get embarked into Marco’s universe. The man is so creative with lots of inspirations both with the music as the writing. The difference with Derdian might be the Black Metal addition into this magical melodic music. I must say it is a bit surprising to me as the growl doesn’t fit that kind of melodic music that is beautiful and exploding into happiness.
These days those growls are everywhere and people tend to get used to it. I personaly don’t. It happens only on few songs and I can understand it is to point out another character in the story.
So if you like his other project Derdian and love the distorted voices added to it, then you will love Magic Opera!
Influences from Helloween, Dragonforce, Manowar, Running Wild, Symphony X, Alestorm, Europe, R.A.M, Guns ‘n Roses, Marduk, and many more.
Ten songs full of parts getting them quite long but still very enjoyable for the listener. Obviously he has two of this band members from Derdian and two others from other bands Illusion forces and Stamina.
A band with talented members who can create and compose a whole universe exploring Marco ‘s one with beautiful pieces of musical art. You must love long songs. You will get what you wanted, a complete album full of power, Heavy Metal and melodies. Hold on tight, prepare your horse and ride like the wind.
An excellent album to own for those who love imaginary tales and music that blows your mind and give you beautiful dreams.
A must have 99/100.
