Downfall 2012 : “We Welcome The Pain” CD & Digital January 2019 self released. USA Alternative Rock / Nu Metal / Indus… band. Originality is something we can relate on many points of views. Regarding this band it is more the unusual description we can find while listening to their album. Starting from their name to the cover and the compositions. That kind of group is impossible to put in a box but at the same time fits well the new music century.

The new generation who came in the nineties and above are more into this kind of music that defines what the music sound is living at the moment. A mixture of music decades smashed into a wall of musicians who are in search for recognition. So in the overall you have lots of distortion but not only. Three vocalists from the softer to the screamer , we have a range of different musical influences here mixing the good and evil kind of image given. The only trouble to me is the fact that noone of the songs are on the same line. It feels like listening to as many bands as they are songs on this album.

Downfall 2012 for sure is a unique band to conquer a lot of Metal heads who loves music. Using lots of samples they give atmosphere to each tracks a nice digital sound and set them into the box of bands who are playing with those to capture your senses. Reminding sometimes bands such as Fear Factory, Machine Head, Skinlab… Sometimes having nice soft parts getting you sent to the pop music such as Oasis, The Beatles or even Red Hot Chilli Peppers… Some vocals are Rap kind reminding the Nu-Metal age as the Grunge one with Rage Against The Machine style.

So you have plenty of music styles and everyone will find their own preferences. Check that video to have a little taste :

Twelve tracks moving you to decades of music and influences that might shake your head. The kick ass songs to me are “Fooled One” and “The Mission” and most of you will love this song “Take Control” that brings that Industrial touch like Rammstein…

So you got it , “We Welcome The Pain” can be a pleasure or a sufferings to your ears but for sure it will make a trace into the music world. This album ends up with a nice acoustic song to ease the pain..96/100.
