Jeff Westlake : “Dead World” Digital & CD 30th November 2018 RFL Records. USA Rock Guitarist. How to introduce a man that everyone knows? Well first many know him mainly from his famous band Hydrogyn who recorded few albums and had few line up changes. The mister is like the luckiest guy on earth , having his own band , recording artists and releasing his own albums.

While some musicians may join other bands when their main one is on hold , Jeff prefers releasing albums completely different musically than his main band. He calls it a concept, but is to me an expansion of his ability to play his instrument and showing the world that we all love music and it is ok to play different styles.

The fact that he kind of doing his own “solo” career, this is not his first album, gives him credit as an artist. This album is very different from the earliest one. Each song reminds a music style, a period in history , a wide range of music! Helped with Terry Withrow (Guitarthey managed to catch up the essence of variety and creativity that gives feelings and catchy tunes to dance to.

This album will link to a book not yet out , which makes the concept interesting. Ten songs ranging from Rock , Soul, Pop, instrumental , Disco… there is no box for this album. This is just a testimony of music love. “March of soul” , “The Devils Juice” ,  “Second Chance” … the lyrics are like stories sometimes referring to his personal one. Anyone can recall something from past life, friends etc… It is just like a movie that would explain life on itself.

In his words :”is the world that exist on the other side of the veil of our reality.  There are people in The Dead World who have not yet found a light.   They are fighting and moving onto the next phase.” That explains the cover artwork of a ghost haunting the living.

The influences are going from Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Cool and the Gang, Santana..using Saxophone, Keyboards and many instruments referring to those music styles. Jeff is a great guitarist but he’s not a singer, he gave feelings in his voice trying to capture your ears with the emotions of his lyrics. So if you love his playing and want to hear all the arrangements he did on those songs then get it 90/100.
