Bottlekopf : “The Jokes Are Over” Digiack CD 22nd February 2022 Wydawinictwo Muzyczne Psycho. Poland Thrash / Death Metal band.

The band is back with a second album, after many years, they managed to compose and bring us a kick-ass powerful album to mosh. It’s not every day a band sends you back to 1991! When Thrash merged with Death Metal style, it was an easy fix to love the band without even thinking.

This band is pretty original.  First, the cover artwork is funny, sending beers rather than bombs. In those times when some part of the world Is fighting for life. It gives a little hope in this harsh world. Then the band’s logo name designed as a skull is a brilliant idea.

A three-piece band with heavy tunes has that Thrash vibe in the veins. The edge of the late eighties dancing with the early nineties makes this album a must-have. For all die-hard fans like me who loved those times when evolution was conceived in the Metal world. They also bring back memories of some bands.

Bands such as Incubus which had to rename for business purposes to Opprobrium are a big part of the influence I could notice here. I would also bring you back Sepultura heaviness from “Beneath .. and Arise” catchy riffs and vocals that were the roots of the sound back in the days. So it is with pleasure I introduce you to BottleKopf.

A gentle band that rips it off, with nice image and sound to gather the Metal Heads around the world. I must say, it’s been a long time since I heard a Thrash band sounding like that.

Enjoy the passage:

Influences melting Thrash and Death such as Sodom, Morgoth, Massacre.. among the ones I already named. You will for sure find other ones that marked the music back then. Thirteen songs with lyrics to dive to. A pleasant listen as a read.

BottleKopf is a band that makes you think. It helps also to get along with your thoughts on the world. Many support from extreme Metal labels, their music is a nice piece of moshing pleasure. Thrash Metal still exists, it is just now less common but you will always have those crossover bands to please your ears.

In the end, a blues song is there to remind you they are not taking it seriously, just having fun while loving music and spreading good vibes. Like bands such as Destruction, they are moshing you but are enjoying what they do and you can feel it. Gives them a much more lovable approach from the fans cos they are real.

The album ends up with a short instrumental, probably an unfinished song that stops suddenly ! Everything is made for you to appreciate and play the album as many times as you like.

“The Jokes Are Over” will be an album that will hit the charts quickly and be remembered forever. A must-have 100/100.
