Grim Reaper : “At The Gates” CD 13th September 2019 Dissonance Productions . UK Heavy Metal band.

For decades I have heard the fans talking about this band. In my memory Steve Grimmet was the singer of Onslaught a cool Thrashing Rock n Roll band. I saw the LPs in sales everywhere, now the band is back people are yearning to own those oldies back and they are following the man on tour.

He is back with power ! Brilliant line up, awesome cover artwork keeping the death one the front. Melodies in his voice, pounding drums and catchy guitar riffs. This is what Heavy Metal is about. Are you sent back into the eighties, an album to get the fans happy and singing along at live shows. The reaper is ripping out your soul. Following the great album three years ago, that got the band on tracks with plenty of live shows. No matter what happens, a true Metal Head finds a way out to keep his Metal running.

With lots of strength and will, Steve is giving the best of his passion that runs into his veins. For the pleasure of us all, it rocks. With cool songs such as “Venom” , “What Lies beneath” , “Shadow in the Dark” among the eleven songs of this album. You are embarked into a passion and thrilling power to kick your day with pleasure. As I haven’t found a recent video I found this one that is still in the same tunes so you’ll love it :

The good thing about this album is Grim Reaper has many influences in their compositions, like the old days when Metal Heads were united. You can hear many influences such as Dokken, Bonfire, Judas Priest, Dio, Accept and many more. We can only say we will gather at festivals moving along with Steve’s vocal lines.

It is just pure goodness for your ears, I just regret that like many eighties albums the chorus is repeated several times at the end. The good point is everyone will sing along! A great album to own 98/100.
