Murder In The Front Row : “When Only the Music Mattered ” DVD 2019 MVD Visual.
It took few years to make , yet after an amazing book. This DVD that went onto the theater screen is out to keep track of memories. What best for those times where live events are “forbidden” , than watching the story of what made us all fans of Thrash Metal music.
While many documentaries have been done about the Heavy Metal scene , the Thrash Metal one needed a documentary on its own. Unity , youth, the will to spread music around the world. Most of those bands are still here. Nothing to compare, the reason is , back then those bands where first fans and friends.
The power of this scene is shown and told in this movie. They wanted to play music, they did everything to make it real. A communinity of young individuals who loved music. They played together , they exchanged members , each band made a life and grew on the same path.
The nineties might have killed this way of life, it hasn’t killed those bands who have made such a powerful scene which it is still alive and well. So many photos have turned over the years, the book already plunged us into that amazing period of time. It needed a movie, those stars talk about how they lived those years together.
It is also dedicated to Paul Balof and Cliff burton and Jeff Hannemen. Hence the title that reminds a famous Exodus song. For those who didn’t know you will learn how it happened. The strong link between Metallica and Exodus, as Megadeth and Slayer , Legacy and Exodus … and finally all of them being linked in the history of Thrash Metal ‘s birth.
“The eighties bay Area Thrash Metal scene , the best one of all time”
You might like me , drop a tear at some point. As it bring back memories. Those energies, the power we all have when we are young with a passion. A very unique history of a music movement that set a strong time in musical history and will live forever.
Discover a bit of what’s inside :
Those kids made a style in Metal , while the Heavy Metal was strong in Europe. I am always amazed to see how many pictures Harald Oimoen (D.R.I) and Brian Lew have taken at that time , it’s like they knew they would make history.
Little interviews to give the photos a depth into what it was back then.
Feel the emotions with them and remember those years. Plenty of photos , live in many places. Famous ones in houses, stories about how were the live shows back then. Greeting from labels and other people who made those bands getting the exposure that made them who they are today. A brilliant way to spread the history of Thrash Metal and what the scene has brought to the world.
The tape trading, the exposure in the radio stations.. those kids wanted it so bad they made it! A lesson in violence if we could say. Dedicated to music , they became amazing musicians. Kirk Hammet, Gary Holt, Alex Skolnick, Jeff Hanneman, Dave Mustaine… so many great guitarist who marked those years forever.
Metallica, Exodus, Legacy, Megadeth, Slayer, Possessed, Death Angel,Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies.. and even Vio-lence. Tons of statements with interviews. A must have for Thrash Metal fans 100/100!!!
