Obsidian Tide : “Pillars Of Creation” CD 29th August 2019 Self Released. Israel Progressive Rock / Death Metal band.

Since I started supporting underground bands back in 1998, I have heard hundred of bands using the word “Obsidian” in their name. Surprisingly bands are not much interested to own their band’s name to be special. It is sad most when you hear the quality of their creations.

Here we have three individuals, Oz Avneya (guitars and clean vocals), Shachar Bieber (bass and harsh vocals) and Erez Nadler (drums and programming). They released a first album in 2015. Obviously had lots of feedback from the underground and this has pushed them to pull out another album.

The man responsible to help me out discovering this great band is not less than the mister on the Bass , Symphony X ‘s Mike LePond who after playing in numerous bands albums. He has decided to play for this band. We can respect this awesome musician for spreading young bands by featuring in their efforts to lift them up in the music world.

While this is an awesome album, I regret that like most bands they use growling voices to be part of the Metal scene. Their influences reminds the seventies and eighties bands such as Yes or even Mike Old Field, yet they set them apart from traditional Progressive Rock style.

They are releasing this album as CD and LP which will please all the fans of those medias that are back for the sake of music. Metal Heads will appreciate the growling voice in the vein of Vomitory and alike…

The two voices are meant to fil the story line that tells the tale of a man who goes on a journey of enlightenment. On his journey, he witnesses riveting stories and learns of horrible truths. This helps you to understand the reason for that growl in a rock band’s music.

An awesome cover artwork that can help you fly away from this planet of unwanted hard times 97/100.
