Porn : “”The Darkest Of Human Desires Act II” CD & Digital Echozone / Les disques Rubicon. French Rock / New Wave / Gothic / Industrial band. A project that gets the band releasing three albums around a story with the character Mr Strangler. In the same veins as movies following a path that links all the albums around a violent journey.
Following their acclaimed first album “The Ogre Inside”, the band pursues its quest to the hard part of human territory . Musically speaking to all those darkest mind on the planet, the vocals with a nice and gentle sound reminding a slight bit of a Progressive band called Obisdian 55, few samples in the vein of Industrial bands with electronic distorted vibe , Some speaking samples exert like movies giving that special feel many bands have used to emphasis the lyrics context.
Most of the sound and feel is around Gothic one with a touch of the New Wave style from the eighties. What differs from most bands is they have their own sound coming from Rock and adding those music styles to it letting your mind searching for which band they can stick much.
So it is like “Déjà heard” but with their own mixes giving this album a special feel to love or hate depending on your musical background. For sure it is not for the likes to many Metal Heads but the ones who are into that deep feeling of sadness and those special sounds.
Ten tracks with deep lyrics and nice music beauty. Songs such as “Evil 6 Evil” , “My Rotten Realm” , “Choose Your Last Words” … each have a pretty clean atmosphere and tunes. You must dig the lyrics to get into the whole concept.
I leave you with this video :
Collaboration with Tom Baker, who mastered many mythic albums like “Antichrist Superstar” by Marylin Manson, “The Downward Spiral” by NIN, “Psalm 69” by Ministry, “Hellbilly Deluxe” by Rob Zombie. So it’s obvious that listening to this album brings you the influences such as Paradise Lost, Type ‘o Negative, and so on.
So if you like those deep dark tunes with a message that gets you into mind thinking, this is the album for you! In the overall it is a great album and gets Porn their own way to express themselves and keeping music evolving at the same time. The cover is well done to support that creation 98/100.
