Solfernus : “Neoantichrist” CD Fall 2017 Satanath Records(Europe & Asia) and Azermedoth Records (North + Latin America). Czech Republic Black Metal band. Started in 2003 the band released a mini album then two years later made a complete one in 2005. Followed few years of touring and videos made to support their music. Their path was made and the band was on its way to stardom when what usually appears in a band, the line up broke getting the band to delay their new album to be released in 2008. They managed to release few demos.

Guitarist Igor having another band called Root he then continued to play while Solfernus was on hold. Due to the fact the line up was exploded the band being “dead” , in 2016 with the help of Root drummer they released another album “Neoantichrist”  making this album with two members in both bands.

So it took them few years to bring us this awesome album that will please most of Metal Heads into the extreme as those who love those thrashy riffs. The good thing with this album is they have many influences mixed together getting more than just a Black Metal album. I can tell it you has many great songs with always the deep dark lyrics to stay in the context of this genre.

Cover artwork don’t get out of this imaginary but has something different as it is not the usual black cover one, yet the christ rotten body being beaten by the vultures  keeps the band in the right place.

Nice booklet with the lyrics to get you deep into the universe of this blaspheme band. It will please all the maniacs since this style has been against religion from the start.

Just released in October 2018 a brand new video , to make sure people don’t loose memory of this band, has been released and his full of great ingredients. I leave you the pleasure to listen to and play this many times :

Starting with a classical guitar with a slight distortion reminding the electroacoustic sound. The blast then takes the following to enter into a powerful song in a Marduk way. Some song has that punky style with riffs to get you dance and enjoy the tunes with easiness to keep the sound of Black Metal. The today ‘s mix makes it enjoyable even though you are not in that style of music.  What is great is they have parts with tempos you find in Death Metal and Thrash Metal bands giving you a touch to other bands you may love.

Most songs are around three to four minutes long except the last one which is nearly seven minutes with a heavier deep atmosphere. They have each different parts like a life and so you can appreciate all of them one after one. This is not the typical blast album most bands like to do, this one has a life and the work is felt through the songs.

Influences are so wide with Coroner, Dimmu Borgir, Kreator, Dissection, Holy Moses, Sodom, Danzig.. All those influences make this band a good one to enjoy and will help you to support knowing they fought for years to accomplish their piece of art. In the overall it is a great album to own in your collection 98/100.
