Nightmare : “Aeternam” CD 2nd October 2020 AFM Records. French Heavy / Thrash Metal band.

It is with big surprise I discover this new album. Knowing the band has been here for a while , keeping the flame of Heavy Metal . Nightmare decided to reinvent itself for the good to bring us a bomb. By using Thrash elements as keyboards and sounds , changing their musical direction to the better. A new female vocalist, while the last one was into Heavy Metal and got the last album pumping the flame. Madie the new one , send the band into a higher perspective. A really good choice for this album that at first didn’t make me think it was a new Nightmare album.

When I heard the first songs , I was sure it was a new modern band. Powerful songs with melodies and guts , usual thrashy guitar riffs, an explosion of senses. Pounding drums pushing the machine to the extreme. Nothing special even though the songs are pretty well composed with amazing musicians. A cover artwork reminding old Death Metal bands, everything was set to remind actual bands using the same music parts to gather the fans and be among the ones on the scene.

‘Nightmare decided to reinvent itself for the good to bring us a bomb’

The kids will love this album for sure, when the festivals will get back to what it was. Nightmare will be on top of the favorite bands for sure. The sound is powerful, great compositions it flows like a glove. The album on itself is brilliant and there is nothing to through away. It just surprised me from an old Heavy Metal band. They have already done several videos, including my favorite songs that will be loved by the masses.

I let you discover that brilliant song :

Many influences ranging from Judas Priest , Nevermore, Vainglory, Firewind, Testament, Van Halen, Exodus, Kreator , Dimmu Borgir, WildStarr…  the last songs are even more changing direction to the extreme Metal style. Faith In Agony s singer Madie has been chosen first to replace the previous singer Maggy Luyten to play live shows. Each having their own bands, it was supposed to be just a live experience. At the end she ended up singing for the whole album. Blowing away anyone listening to this pearl , showing how that lady handles her voice with many capabilities.

Check her out to discover how well she is using her voice. Singing in Nightmare for sure brings her another experience to use her voice in another way. She got power and melodies. She is to me the reason of that album being so amazing. An explosion for your ears and hearts 99/100.
